Pittsburgh's First Net-Zero Energy Home

1820 Merriman Way

This home has been certified by the nationally known firm of MaGrann Associates as Net-Zero because it has been constructed to produce as much energy as it uses on a yearly basis. This has been accomplished through several methods including super-insulation, energy efficient LED lighting, and a ground-coupled, water-source heat pump (also known as a geothermal heat pump).

Furthermore, the 8KW (8,000 watt) PV (photovoltaic) array on the roof offsets this energy on a yearly basis, achieving Net-Zero status. All of these technologies are well proven and should provide many years of low maintenance service.

All homes at Riverside Mews are constructed to exceed Energy Star standards. Most have far surpassed Energy Star requirements by consuming 50% of the energy of a home built to current International Energy Code standards (IECC).
